Frequently Asked Questions

1. WHAT DO PHYSIOTHERAPISTS DO?

Physiotherapists treat and manage problems via hands-on techniques such as mobilisation/manipulation, massage and stretches. We may also use specific exercises, acupuncture and electrotherapy as an adjunct to treatment.

2. WHY SHOULD I SEE A PHYSIOTHERAPIST RATHER THAN ANOTHER PRACTITIONER?

Physiotherapists are experts in musculo-skeletal injuries, injuries of the muscles, ligaments, joints, nerves and tendons and returning people to their lives. We are primary carers with a 4 year university degree and continue with compulsory professional development when graduated. We treat using the latest scientifically proven methods.

5. HOW SOON POST INJURY SHOULD I SEE A PHYSIO?

Physiotherapy can begin immediately post injury. Simple exercises and ice can be started and your physio will advise on the best course of action to get through the initial phase of injury.

6. DO YOU TREAT IN THE FIRST SESSION OR IS IT JUST AN ASSESSMENT?

Yes! We assess and treat in the first session.

7. SHOULD I BRING ALONG MY X-RAYS ETC?

Yes!  X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRI results, along with our clinical findings help us form an accurate diagnosis of your condition. This will aid in your treatment plan and prognosis.

8. HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

It depends on the exact nature of your injury. Following initial assessment, your physio will be able to advise how long the injury is likely to take to heal and how many treatments you may need. It will also depend on your lifestyle and the goals of rehabilitation.

9. DO YOU DO HOME VISITS?

Yes. These are charged at an hourly rate, timed from departing until returning to the clinic, with a minimal call-out fee. Contact the practice for our current rate.
